ID3 tag
An ID3 tag is a tag used to identify information about pieces of music. The information stored in the ID3 tag is shown on the displays of music players such as MP3 players or DAB radios.
ID3 tags in the ID3V1 version contain information about the title, artist, album, genre, track, year of release and a data field for comments.
The 2nd version ID3V2 has more data fields and the entries can be of any length, whereas in ID3V1 they are limited. ID3 tags are the de facto standard for the music world and for most audio formats and are also added to some video formats. The ID3 method is also used in digital audio broadcasting (DAB) and in digital radios to insert the corresponding information.
