I/O-link device description (IODD)

IO-Link Device Description (IODD) is an XML-based device description used to describe the actuators and sensors of IO-Link configurations.

The general description is based on variables, process data and events and includes the communication properties, device parameters, process data and diagnostic data. In addition, the IODD description includes a device photo and the company logo.

The IODD descriptions are manufacturer-independent and are presented in the same form for all devices. The descriptions consist of the XML files and image files in Portable Network Graphics( PNG). In addition to general information about the device properties, the IODD directories also include manufacturer-specific information that relates to the properties of a device.
