G703

The line interface according to G.703 is an interface for digital transmission paths and is used from transmission speeds of 64 kbit/s upwards.

The G.703 interface is a bit-oriented interface for the transmission of synchronous bit streams over which no structures are transmitted. In G.703, the electrical parameters of the lines are specified at data rates of 1,544 kbit/s, 2,048 kbit/s, 6,312 kbit/s, 8,488 kbit/s, and 44,736 kbit/s. For speeds of 2 Mbit/s, e.g. in the PCM system, the frame structure according to G.704 is used. For speeds of 34 Mbit/s and 140 Mbit/s, the frame structure according to G.751 is used.
