FTP server

FTP servers, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), are Internet nodes that have their own IP address.

There are dedicated FTP file servers on the Internet whose main function is to be available as a file archive for FTP access by clients. An FTP client, on the other hand, can be any system with interactive access to the Internet. As in the case of Telnet, only those Internet systems that have their own IP address can serve as FTP servers.
