European workshop in open systems (EWOS)

The European Workshop in Open Systems (EWOS) was established as a coordinating group and focal point for European OSI activities.

The group operates under the umbrella of the European standardization institutes CEN/ CENELEC. Further represented are: The Standards Promotion and Application Group( SPAG), European Computer Manufacturers Association( ECMA), OSI Technical Office Protocol (OSITOP), Réseaux Associés pour la Recherche Européen( RARE), Cooperation for OSI Networking in Europe( COSINE) and the European MAP User Group (EMUG). EWOS sees itself, among other things, as the European counterpart to the National Bureau of Standards( NBS) and works closely with NBS and similar organizations such as the Promotion for Open Systems Interconnection (POSI) in Japan.
