The European Machine Vision Association (EMVA) is an association that looks after the interests of its member companies in machine vision. It ensures that machine vision is recognized worldwide.
EMVA members include machine vision companies, national associations and scientific organizations.
The EMVA has developed a number of standards. One of these is EMVA Standard 1288, which defines important parameters of digital cameras such as sensitivity, noise, signal-to-noise ratio, dark current and quantum efficiency. However, these parameters are only published by a few camera manufacturers, which relativizes the comparability. The EMVA was also active for the USB3 Visioncamera interface.
