El Capitan

OS X El Capitan is the Mac OS X 10.11 version of Apple 's operating system for the Apple Macintosh line of notebooks and desktops. In OS X El Capitan, the San Francisco system font was used as the default for the first time.

New features include Mission Control to keep track of all open windows. The Spotlight search function displays locally stored results as well as other topics such as weather, stocks and web videos. A Notes app lets you drag and drop photos, PDF files, videos, and content from other apps like Safari or maps into notes.

Apple's Safari web browser has website pins to keep websites open and active in the tab bar, as well as a new mute button that turns off a tab's audio playback. The operating system's email client offers Smart Suggestions, which suggest users add names or events from an email to their contacts or calendar.

Apple's Metal integrated graphics technology accelerates Core Animation and Core Graphics at the system level, resulting in faster graphics performance. Metal also delivers faster draw-call performance for games and professional application programs.
