ESCON connector
The ESCON connector is an FO connector for mainframe channel connections.
The Escon connector is related to the MIC connector and has the advantage of space and cost savings over conventional channel connections in the mainframe world.
The Escon connector has a push-pull locking mechanism, it is made of plastic, has a 2.5 mm ferrule made of zirconia and an insertion loss of about 0.5 dB.
Unlike the FDDI connector, the ferrules of the ESCON connector are spring-loaded and retract.
