EPC information service (EPCIS)

The discovery services offered on the EPCglobal Network are used to find RFID tags marked with EPC codes.

With these services, trading partners can find all parties that use tagged products. One of these services is the EPC Information Service (EPCIS). It is the standard for corporate databases containing file information about products marked with the EPC code. This information includes the manufacturer, product class, serial number, dimensions and weight.

Other EPC discovery services can be used to retrieve various information about the companies involved in the supply chain and the current status of the deployment. Authorized network participants can access this information.
