E-model
The E-model is a calculation model standardized by the International Telecommunication Union(ITU) under G.107 for the evaluation of speech quality in transmission systems.
With the E-model, which is used in the planning and simulation of networks, the objective R-factor, which gives an indication of the voice quality, is determined as a function of various transmission influences.
The approach used does not consider a single, individual transmission parameter, but all parameters that have an influence on the transmission quality with their mutual dependence. The variables influencing speech quality and both values include noise, signal-to-noise ratio, delays, jitter, latency, echoes and packet loss.
The E-model is characterized by the fact that it uses the parameters of the simulation directly as input parameters for the prediction of the speech quality.
