CurrentC

CurrentC is a mobile payment system designed and developed by U.S. merchant consortia. CurrentC differs conceptually from other m-payments and online wallets that transfer data between the mobile device and the merchant terminal using Bluetooth or near field communication( NFC) in that it works with the QR code.

During the payment process with CurrentC, the smartphone or cell phone captures the QR code of the product. Settlement takes place directly between the customer and their bank, which debits the amount via direct debit.

The advantage of the system is that even older cell phones with digital cameras and older smartphones can work with the system and that no credit card fees are incurred or, as with Apple Pay, only certain iPhones can be used and fees must be paid to Apple.
