Charging Column Ordinance

The Charging Station Ordinance (LSV) is a directive that sets out the technical requirements for charging stations for electric vehicles. The directive has been in existence since 2016 and stands for the safe and interoperable operation of charging stations in the public sector.

The charging station directive is about the Combined Charging System( CCS). The charging plug is the IEC 62196-2 specified by the International Electrotechnical Commission(IEC) with the type designation Type 2. This charging plug is known as the Mennekes plug. The standard specifies the charging plug and the charging modes of the charging station. Type 2 is suitable as a charging plug for the low- voltage and three- phase grid.

The charging station regulation deals exclusively with wired charging, not wireless charging.
