Brown out detect (BOD)

Various logic circuits and processors react extremely sensitively to changes in their operating voltage and no longer work properly when the voltage fluctuates or the supply voltage is reduced.

They generate malfunctions because the program code is no longer executed correctly due to voltages that are too low.

To prevent this, there is a detection circuit, the Brown-Out-Detect (BOD), which works as a sensing circuit and generates a reset within a specified time when the supply voltage is too low, which resets the processor. If the supply voltage rises again to the operating voltage, the brown-out detect generates a release that enables the monitored circuit again. This then runs the program code again from the beginning.
