Braille tablet

Braille terminals are for the visually impaired and blind. Previous computer-based systems used a Braille line with mechanically raised or lowered pins to display Braille characters

. Researchers at the University of Michigan have developed a Braille tablet on whose display

the Braille characters are produced by small bubbles created by a microfluid process. They are filled with air or a liquid.

A corresponding screen can contain up to 10,000 dots and complete pages of text but also graphics can be displayed. The output is therefore no longer limited to a Braille line.
