Apple watch

The Apple Watch is a radio-controlled smartwatch from Apple and was introduced in September 2014. The Apple Watch, product name iWatch, is operated via a touchscreen and a digital crown on the right side of the case for scrolling, zooming and navigating. The digital crown is similar to the Home button familiar from the iPhone and iPad and also provides access to Apple's Speech Interpretation and Recognition Interface( SIRI) voice technology.

Core functions of the Apple Watch include answering calls to the owner's iPhone, sending and receiving messages, and health and fitness applications, for which four sensors are mounted on the back of the watch. Apple has developed Apple Watch as the operating system for the iWatch, which is based on the iOS operating system and has similar functions.

An activity app processes readings from an integrated accelerometer and heart rate sensor and uses them to calculate the wearer's calories burned and distance traveled. A fitness app on the iPhone collects this activity data and presents it to the owner as detailed statistics.

Most of the Apple Watch's functions require a wireless connection via WLAN and Bluetooth to an iPhone of the series 5 and following. The Apple Watch's batteries are charged using an inductive charging system that snaps onto the back of the watch.

Together with an iPhone, the Apple Watch also supports the Apple Pay mobile payment system, so its wearers can use it to make contactless payments. The Apple Watch is available in multiple editions, cases, bands and with customizable watch faces. WatchKit gives independent developers the software and application programming interfaces( API) to write fully native apps for the Apple Watch.
