AT attachment packet interface (ATAPI)

The ATAttachment Packet Interface (ATAPI) is a standardized parallel interface designed to connect toAdvanced Technology Attachment (ATA) for storage devices such as hard drives, CD drives, or DVD drives.

ATAPI uses SCSI-like commands to drive non-hard disk drives such as streamers, CD drives, and DVD drives. The ATAPI interface was standardized by the Small Form Factor Committee. The ATA standard supports cable lengths up to 50 cm, but ATA cables with cable lengths up to 1 m are available.
