3.5 generation (3.5G)
Mobile technologies are divided into generations. The 3rd generation(3G) stands for UMTS and the 4th generation( 4G) for UMTS Terrestrical Radio Access ( UTRA), Long Term Evolution( LTE) and others. Between these technologies, the 3.5th generation has been subsequently inserted.
The 3.5 generation (3. 5G) involves the packet-switched technologies High Speed Downlink Packet Access( HSDPA) and High Speed Uplink Packet Access( HSUPA), which were developed for UMTS. However, 3.5G also includes WiBro and WiMAX, as well as DigitalMultimedia Broadcast( DMB) with its terrestrial and satellite variants T-DMB and Satellite DMB( S-DMB).
