2.4 mm connector

The 2.4 mm connector was developed by Hewlett Packard, Amphenol and M/A-Com for the frequency range up to 50 GHz. By thickening the outer thread ring, the design of the 2.4 mm connector is more stable than that of the SMA connector and the 2.92 mm connector.

The 2.4-mm connector is supplied in three different application-specific variants. The universal variant can be connected to microwave components, waveguides and high-frequency cables where there are lower requirements for reproducibility, the second variant is best suited for microwave measurement technology and the third is the precision version with the best transmission characteristics.

The inner diameter of the threaded ring is 2.4 mm, the outer diameter is 4.9 mm. The 2.4 mm connector is mechanically incompatible with the SMA, 3.5 mm and 2.92 mm connectors. A special adapter is required for a connection with these microwave plugs.
