128b130b encoding

With PCI Express 3.0, the previous 8B/10B coding is replaced by 128B/130B coding.

The 128B/130B encoding is characterized by a low overhead of only 1.6 percent, which means that the increasing power requirement at the transfer rate of 8 GB/s per lane is much lower than that of the 8B/10B encoding, which has an overhead of 20 percent. However, the reduction in power requirements is accompanied by an increase in the complexity of the logics. Therefore, significantly more logic gates are needed in a Field Programmable Gate Array( FPGA).
