extended total access communications system (ETACS)

Das Extended Total Access Communications System (ETACS) ist ein analoges Mobilfunksystem und gehört zu den Mobilfunksystemen der 1. Generation ( 1G). Es wurde von Motorola entwickelt und in Europa und Asien eingesetzt.

ETACS ist eine Erweiterung von Total Access Communications System ( TACS), bei dem zusätzliche Funkkanäle zugeteilt werden.

ETACS arbeitet im 900- MHz-Band mit Frequenzmodulation und unterstützt bis zu 1.000 Funkkanäle mit einer Bandbreite von 25 kHz. Als Zugangsverfahren benutzt ETACS Frequency Division Multiple Access ( FDMA). Die Kommunikation erfolgt bidirektional mit Frequency Division Duplex ( FDD) über Dowlinks und Uplinks.
