Die Bezeichnung Upper Level Protocols (ULP) wird in Fibre Channel (FC) benutzt, und zwar für die Protokolle, die auf FC-4 des FC-Schichtenmodells aufsetzen. Typische ULP-Protokolle sind das Small Computer System Interface (SCSI), das IP-Protokoll, High Performance Parallel Interface (HIPPI) und Intelligent Peripheral Interface (IPI).
